This introductory training supports youth serving professionals in understanding, normalizing, and affirming LGBTQ youth identities and experiences. Participants will examine terminology, health outcomes, and best practices related to LGBTQ youth in this interactive, one-day session.
After attending this training, participants will be able to:
- Increase familiarity and comfort with using and defining terminology relevant to LGBTQ+ youth, including explaining the differences between sex assigned at birth, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
- Increase capacity to include and normalize LGBTQ identities and experiences in their work with all young people.
- Identify at least three ways to affirm LGBTQ young people individually in their work.
- Identify at least two ways to affirm LGBTQ young people systemically (at a district, program, clinic, or organizational level) in their work.
