Advocacy and Politics

Our organization is nonpartisan and not political. We work closely with people and legislators who represent a broad spectrum of political views.

Advocacy is a core part of our mission. That means we work with decision makers to promote policies that will help young people be safe, healthy, and responsible now and for the rest of their lives. Although the political issues of the day might change, our key advocacy interests generally include:

  • Making sure public funding for programs is focused on effective programs
  • Ensuring programs and services that are proven to reduce teen pregnancy are adequately funded
  • Protecting and promoting laws and policies that help young people and families access effective information, support, and medical care

We encourage North Carolinians – including young people – to actively participate in informing decision makers about their needs and effective solutions.

We also actively participate as a member of select coalitions, such as the Covenant With North Carolina’s Children. We greatly value the work they do to support and engage the nonprofit community on behalf of young people and families. Because these coalitions often operate on a “majority rules” basis when selecting a policy platform, their specific policy recommendations may not reflect our position.
